Helical antennas are excellent general purpose video receiver antennas. Originally developed for LEO satellite and space communications, helical antennas are an excellent antenna for close in clarity as well as distance missions. Helicals have narrower main beams than a crosshair, but have multiple sidelobes which make it possible to obtain omni directional coverage at moderate distance. They also have extremely wide bandwidth to cover multiple bands and channels.
